Brain Game Center

Brain Game Center for Mental Fitness & Well-being

Using evidence-based research and scientifically optimized tests, the Brain Game Center studies brain fitness games that assist people in their daily activities. Undergraduate and graduate students can gain hands-on experiences alongside a team of psychologists, neuroscientists, computer scientists, medical experts, programmers, artists, and more.

Faculty and staff at the Brain Game Center have worked on several projects, including:

  • vision training to address vision loss, dyslexia, schizophrenia, and autism
  • training 30,000 people on working memory to understand individual differences in interventional needs
  • new cognitive assessments to understand individual differences in early childhood STEM achievement

Catalysis Center

Catalysis Center

The Center for Catalysis is comprised of four facilities that focus on addressing the complex challenges surrounding catalysis and nanotechnology. Faculty and staff are committed to studying new developments and revolutionizing chemical manufacturing.

Brain scan

Center for Advanced Neuroimaging (CAN)

As a multidisciplinary center, the Center for Advanced Neuroimaging houses state-of-the-art equipment for various research projects. Faculty, staff, and trainees have expertise in several areas, including psychology, psychiatry, neurology, MRI physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, and engineering.

Xiaoping Hu, director of CAN, and Xu Chen, a research scientist, have been published in several scientific journals on topics such as the effects of intranasal oxytocin on neural activity and testing an MRI-compatible flexible endoscopic robot for neurosurgery.

Central Facility for Advanced Microscopy and Microanalysis (CFAMM)

Central Facility for Advanced Microscopy and Microanalysis (CFAMM)

Established in 1996 with the support of the National Science Foundation, the Central Facility for Advanced Microscopy and Microanalysis assists faculty, staff, and students with research related to organic and inorganic materials, biological tissue, and minerals applying electron beam techniques.

Krassimir Bozhilov, director of CFAMM, has been published for his findings on the elemental/metal analysis of atomizers in electronic cigarettes and examining the conditions under which moissanite crystallizes.

Center for Geospatial Sciences (CGS)

Center for Geospatial Sciences (CGS)

The School of Public Policy houses the Center for Geospatial Sciences, a space for research and education that incorporates transdisciplinary approaches to improve geospatial planning and public policy.

Some notable accomplishments from our faculty are research publications covering topics such as spatial analysis, air transportation systems, and spatial data management.

High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC)

High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC)

Using a state-of-the-art research computing infrastructure, the High-Performance Computing Center supports over 150 research groups and more than 800 active users for computational, statistical, life science, and engineering disciplines.

Alianza MX

Alianza MX

Alianza MX is an academic research institute dedicated to encouraging, securing, and contributing to binational and Latino research as well as collaborative academic programs and exchanges.

The staff at Alianza MX have worked on:

  • developing and executing new binational initiatives in innovation and entrepreneurship
  • engaging with binational stakeholders participating in the Zero Emission Vehicles Strategic Initiative sub-working groups: Light Duty Vehicles (LDV), Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicles (MHDV), and Electromobility in Cities
